With only a couple of more days left on this tour, I figured that I would take this opportunity to let you know what I am planning to do next season and beyond. This 30-stadium tour is just the beginning.
I am in the process of writing a book about this tour that will include stories from people all over the country as well as my own. I have been asked if I would ever do this tour again. Now that I am reaching the end I can confidently say that I would do it again in a heartbeat. Next season, I plan on doing a similar tour with the minor league stadiums. Before you say anything, I know, it is impossible to do all of the minor league ball parks in one season. There are hundreds of affiliated A, AA and AAA teams scattered throughout the country. What I plan to do (and this is in the earliest stages of development in my mind) is to pick an arbitrary number; for now I will just say 100. I will then map out a way to see 100 games in 100 days and attempt to include every one of the continental 48 states (sorry Hawaii and Alaska).
The following season I would like to do a tour of the International ballparks in places like China, Japan, Australia, Dominican Republic and many many more. Ultimately I want to tell the story of the ball park in big city USA, small town America and International cities around the world and how each stadium has a symbiotic relationship with its home town. I want to tell the story of how each one of us is connected to our home parks no matter what the size of our cities. This tour is not over though. I still have two more stadiums to see. Tomorrow I make my first visit to the Rogers Centre. I can not wait!
