My apartment is empty, my bags are packed, I am ready to go!

Day #3 - Travel from New York to Baltimore

Muneesh Jain May 31, 2013

The FIrst Day on the Road

I spent the morning tying up some loose ends with my apartment (returning my cable box, turning in my keys etc.). I got fitted for new contacts with the help of the amazing team at Manhattan Eyeworks and got one final massage from my brilliant massage therapist Mandi.  After eating lunch at my favorite Mediterranean restaurant, my driving adventure began.

The start of my tour

The odometer is pictured left.

The first section of the tour is just a short jump from New York City to Baltimore. Unfortunately, an hour outside of New York I experienced my first bump in the road. My side-view mirror popped out as I was driving down the highway. Luckily, as traffic at the time was at a standstill, I was able to pull over and find it in the grass. It took me 45 minutes, but I was glad to find the mirror completely intact.

Despite this minor setback, I was able to reach Baltimore in just under five hours.

What I listened to while driving:

By the Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin – Episode 11 Tig Notaro

Who Charted? - Episode 130 Harris Wittels

The early innings of the Tigers/Orioles game

I arrived in Baltimore at 7:50 PM. I am staying with the Sidhu family. The Sidhus are family friends who I have known since I was born. To keep my overhead down I am relying on the kindness of friends, family and strangers along the way. I was greeted with a hot plate of Chinese food upon entering the door and after a brief chat with the family, I turned in for the night excited for the Tigers/Orioles game to follow.

NYC-Baltimore

Here is the odometer at the end of the NYC to Baltimore leg of the tour.
