On the road again

Day #29 - Travel from Houston to Dallas

Muneesh Jain June 26, 2013

Another “short” four-hour drive today as I head north to Dallas.  I am staying with a friend's sister whom I have never met, so I am excited to make a new friend on this tour.  It has been nearly one full month since I slept in my own bed, but I am getting used to waking up in a new city every 48-72 hours.

Leaving Houston

I arrived in Dallas around 5 PM and ran some errands.  I went to Sam's Club to refill my cooler of grapes and water bottles.  I am not entirely sure if eating all of these grapes is healthy or not, but I feel like it is probably better than eating chips and fast food on the road.

What I listened to in the car:

Who Charted – Ben Schwartz

Call Chelsea Peretti

Ronna & Beverly – Nate Corddry

Comedy Bang Bang

My host was not home when I got to her place, but her roommate left a key for me so I could let myself in.  She ended up coming in relatively late so we did not get a chance to chat very much, but I have a comfortable couch to take over so I am a happy man.

Who kept me awake while driving:

My mom

My old employee Porky

Arriving Dallas

Spending the majority of my life in the Midwest and Northeast has not fully prepared me for how hot the summers in Texas are.  Driving from Houston to Dallas was not very eventful, but the sun blazing down is starting to take its toll.  I have an off day tomorrow so I decided to relax tonight in the air conditioned apartment and watch some baseball on TV.  All of the games I have watched so far on this tour have either been at the ballpark, on my iPhone/iPad or I have listened to the radio broadcasts.  It has been a great melding of old and new media, but I miss sitting on a couch with my feet up and watching the game on the tube.

Tomorrow I will detail how I set up my lodging accommodations for this tour.
