After 35 days of driving from city to city by myself I finally have a travel companion. This will be a change of pace from the hours of solitude I have become accustomed to during my travels. My goal to spend all 15,000 miles of this trip behind the wheel is still in tact, but at least now I have another human being to talk to on these long empty roads.
What we listened to in the car:
Doug Loves Movies
Comedy Bang Bang
Music
Even with another person in the car we decided to break the drive into two days. We spent over 12 hours driving today leaving a couple of hours for tomorrow. We reached Flagstaff, AZ around 10:50 PM and found a cheap hotel to crash in for the night. Along the way we stopped and had some Mexican food at a place called Sadies of New Mexico in Albuquerque. For the next couple of weeks I am expecting to eat some fine Mexican food, but this place was a swing and a miss. As always, I relied on my stockpile of grapes and macadamia nuts to keep my energy up. I am not sick of them quite yet, but I am getting there.
The one car game that we played was “find the embarrassing song on your iPod”. We both put our respective devices on shuffle and filtered through our collections until we found the song that made us squirm. For Rindler it was Miley Cyrus: Party in the USA and for me it was Katy Perry: Firework. Apparently we are both just teenage girls at heart. I am not sure if I should have included those last couple of sentences, but I feel like I can trust you not to judge us too harshly.
