We made it! My mother and I have spent 49 hours together in a car over the last week driving from Seattle to LA and then LA to Minneapolis. My efforts to take the wheel from my mom fell flat once again as she drove the bulk of the way while I sat next to her typing away. Ultimately, in addition to being grateful for the company and the respite from driving, I was able to get quite a lot of work done these past couple of days thanks to my mom's tireless dedication to taking care of her son.
As we were driving I was able to find and book a massage and a hair cut in Minneapolis tomorrow. It has been far too long since my last massage and my back is not happy with me at the moment. I have been running on adrenaline for the past couple of weeks and can feel my mind and body about to hit the wall. It has been over two months of living on the road. I am starting to forget what it is like to wake up in my own bed and see the same surroundings for more than a couple of days.
What we listened to in the car:
Comedy Bang Bang
Music
The rain that I saw on the radar yesterday looks even worse today. By getting into Minneapolis on schedule it allows me to use my buffer day to attend an extra game at Target Field. Thanks to my mom I am not feeling too exhausted, so I decided that to avoid any potential rain outs, I would buy a ticket for tomorrow's game. I will never complain about seeing more live baseball.
And so ends my cross-country journey with my mother. I can not believe how fast it went by. Of the several recommendations I have given over the past several weeks, I have to say that taking a long road trip with your mom has shot straight to the top of my list. I had such a great time these last few days and I am actually a little sad to see it come to an end. I will be seeing my mom again next week in Chicago, but for now she will be flying back to Michigan and I will once again continue my adventure alone.
Thanks mom. I love you.
