Driving to Colorado
It is time for another double digit hour drive as I head north towards the mountains. I debated whether or not I could make it from Dallas to Denver in one day, but after getting home at around midnight the previous night I elected to break this trip into two days. I drove as far as I could today before stopping in Pueblo Colorado for the night.
The drives are starting to get a little more scenic while remaining thankfully flat. I did not realize how wide of a Texas is as hour after hour I kept checking my GPS to realize that I had not left the state quite yet. When I finally reached New Mexico I was greeted by a thunderous rainstorm. Aside from driving through Tropical Storm Andrea while in Florida, I have had beautiful driving days through the first month of my journey. Even today's rainfall only lasted about twenty minutes.
What I listened to in the car:
By the Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin – Aziz Ansari
Doug Loves Movies
WTF with Marc Maron – Jay Mohr
The JV Club – Casey Wilson
The Champs Podcast – Kumail Nanjiani
The Champs Podcast – Hannibal Buress
Tigers/Rays game
StarTalk Radio with Neil Degrasse Tyson
I Seem Fun: The Diary of Jen Kirkman Podcast
This is in no way a paid advertisement, but I will say that the MLB At Bat app has been a life savor for me on the road. Getting the radio broadcasts of the Tigers game during my long drives as well as being able to watch their TV broadcasts in every city that I am in has been amazing. I had bought the MLBTV service the first year it was offered over a decade ago and was not very pleased with the product. Since then I had always bought the MLB package through my cable provider. Obviously this summer I have no cable TV so I decided to give the At Bat app a try and I am genuinely blown away by how much better Major League Baseball is then any other sport when it comes to technology. The condensed games, the highlights, the choices in broadcast views and audio sources, the classic games and the different platforms where you can watch a game are just some of the things that I love about this app. I know this reads like I am getting paid to say this, but I assure you I simply want other baseball fans to experience the pure joy that I get through this app.
Who kept me awake while driving:
My cousin Dhruv (all the way from India)
My sister's friend Andy
I called my dad while I was in New Mexico and tasked him with finding me a hotel for the night somewhere in Colorado. He got back to me within an hour with multiple options for me at which time I decided I could make it to Pueblo, CO which would leave me about 2 hours to go tomorrow. I am excited to get to Denver. My friend Ryan Rindler will be joining me there and coming with me for a couple of weeks. There is plenty of time for me to introduce you to my buddy Rindler, but for now I need to eat some pizza and collapse into this bed.
