On the Road Again
Today I faced my longest stretch of driving thus far. In fact, this was the fourth longest stretch of driving that I have overall. The trip from DC to St. Pete is roughly 920 miles. I left DC around 11:30 AM after picking up a grilled chicken pizza from a local chain called Naked Pizza. Along with my grapes and blueberries, this was to be my meal for the road.

Around 10:50 PM I pulled into a Best Western in Jacksonville, FL to turn in for the night. I haven't been keeping up on any news recently so I was completely unaware of the storm I was driving into, but the last hour of my drive was quite the adventure. I could barely see three feet in front of the hood of my car and was driving about 40 MPH on the highway. Tropical Storm Andrea was in full swing as I drove through a torrential downpour. Luckily I only spent a short time in the storm before pulling off the road and turning in for the night.
As you can no doubt surmise from my playlist included above, in addition to being a baseball fan, I am a bit of a comedy nerd. For those of you who are not fully on board with the podcasting world (if you haven't checked out mine yet this would be a great time to give the first couple of episodes a listen), I have to say that podcasts are absolute life savers on the road. It has been six years since I actively drove a car so this medium was not as abundant during my former driving days. It is amazing how the nearly 22 hours I have spent in my car thus far have flown by due to the listening pleasure that podcasts bring.
