NoCal to SoCal.  It is time for LA.

Day #48 – Travel from San Francisco to LA

Muneesh Jain July 15, 2013

I am back on the road and alone.  I miss Rindler already.  It is the All-Star break and I am as far away from New York City as possible. I am a bit frustrated as the game is so close to my former apartment, but I get to spend time with my buddy Tree in LA so all is not lost.

Leaving San Francisco

The drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles took a little over six hours and was pretty uneventful.  What was unexpected and amazing however was that I got to meet my cousin and her new fiance for dinner.  My cousin Chandni had flown all the way from India to meet with her fiance who lives in LA.  By complete coincidence she happened to be here when I was driving through.  Had it not been for this tour I most likely would not been able to see them, but once again baseball is bringing me closer to my family.

I met Chandni and Nikhil at Universal Citi Walk for some lunch and then followed them to Nikhil's house to meet his parents.  We watched the home run derby together - congratulations Yoenis Cespedes – and got to know each other a little better.  Chandni will be moving from India to the States once they are married and I am excited to have her here.  Growing up the only members of my family that lived in the US were my mom, dad and sister.  We visited India as often as we could, but it was difficult.  This was also during the days before the internet and when calling India cost a small fortune.  It was great to get to know her future in-laws a little bit better and spend time in their lovely home.

Arriving in LA

After the derby I jumped in the car and headed to Hollywood to see my buddy Tree.  We met at a local bar and listened to some music before walking back to his place and turning in for the night.  Tomorrow is the All-Star game.
