Heading to the ATL

Day #15 - Travel from Miami to Atlanta

Muneesh Jain June 12, 2013

My first mistake

Today I drove from Miami to Atlanta.  My friend Noah and his wonderful wife Jen live in Atlanta with their two children Liam and Hudson.  I had originally planned on staying with Noah and Jen during my stay here, but little Hudson decided he needed to be born last week and subsequently forced me into a hotel.  I plan on meeting the young lad during my off day at which time I will give him a stern talking to about how to treat guests.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I am trying very hard not to gain 50 pounds on this trip.  The food that I am eating at the ballparks puts this dream of mine at risk.  I am trying to enjoy the foods of each city as best I can, but when I am driving I am trying to keep it healthy.  What I did during this drive was just plain stupid.  I sat in a car for nearly 10 hours and ate nothing but grapes, blueberries and blackberries.

What I listened to in the car:

Who Charted – Patton Oswalt

You Made it Weird – Live

Ronna and Beverly – Kulap Vilaysack

Indoor Kids

Nerdist – Ben Schwartz

Comedy Bang Bang

Tigers/Royals Game

Music

Arriving in Atlanta

I obliviously sat in my car thinking that I could just eat a meal once I got to my hotel, but as soon as I drove into the parking lot trouble started brewing.  When I stood up to get out of my car my legs gave out from underneath me.  I checked in and immediately asked where I could get a meal.  The closest restaurant was a 10 minute drive away so I very cautiously got back in my car and drove to Cafe Sababa for a chicken sharwarma wrap.  By the time I got back to the hotel I could feel my entire body shutting down on me.  I shoveled the food into my mouth and fell over onto the bed with my clothes and shoes still on.  The next thing I remembered was waking up at 6 AM the following morning.

I learned my lesson.  My next drive is Atlanta to St. Louis which is another eight plus hour stretch.  I will be eating something more substantial next time.
